Contract: Full-time, Temporary with potential to become Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team in a thriving school in Pontefract. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to making a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

You will work in a small class setting, providing focused support to pupils who may present challenging behaviour. Your role will be key in creating a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND, ensuring their individual needs are met
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
• Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress

Requirements

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential)
• Team Teach training (desirable)
• Experience supporting children with SEND and managing challenging behaviour
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach

All roles will require an enhanced criminal record disclosure (DBS), although we can help with this process a new application is required if your current DBS is not on the update service, and reference checks.
