Learning Mentor – Secondary Schools – Derby & Derbyshire

Are you passionate about supporting young people to thrive, both academically and emotionally? Join our team at Career Teachers and become a dedicated Learning Mentor working across a variety of secondary schools in Derby & Derbyshire.

Role Overview
As a Learning Mentor, you’ll work closely with students who require additional support to overcome barriers to learning. Your role will be to foster a positive school experience, improve engagement, and help students realise their potential-academically, socially, and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring to students
  • Support behavioural, emotional and academic development
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams and parents/carers
  • Contribute to creating inclusive and supportive learning environments
  • Monitor progress and keep detailed records of student development

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with young people in an educational, youth work or mentoring capacity
  • Strong communication, empathy and relationship-building skills
  • Adaptability to different school settings and student needs
  • A proactive and compassionate approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
