Career Teachers are currently recruiting for a Pastoral Lead / Head of Year for our secondary school in North West Leicestershire.

As pastoral lead / Head of Year you will be supporting students who require additional support for their overall development including academically, socially, and emotionally, as well as to develop and maintain a positive ethos within the year group that encourages students to have high expectations of themselves and others and promotes effective learning; this includes behaviour and attendance.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE
* Relevant experience working in KS3 and KS4.
* DBS certification or willingness to obtain one.
* Willing to work with students with challenging behaviour.
* Class control and behaviour management skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Degree is desirable.
* Experience working in a pastoral position required.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* Have vast knowledge and understanding of the school curriculum.
* Assess and monitor students’ progress across the academic year.
* Encourage and motivate the learning of the pupils.
* Be able to understand students emotionally, socially and academically.
* Be able to communicate well with parents and careers when discussing sensitive topics.
