A forward-thinking secondary school in South East London is seeking a committed and experienced Safeguarding & Inclusion Officer to join their pastoral team immediately. This is a vital role focused on promoting student welfare, safeguarding best practices, and inclusive support across the school community.
Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or support the DSL in safeguarding duties
Monitor and respond to safeguarding concerns, liaising with external agencies where appropriate
Champion inclusive practices, ensuring all students-especially those with additional needs-feel safe, supported, and valued
Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with KCSIE and GDPR guidelines
Support vulnerable students through tailored interventions and pastoral care
Work closely with staff, parents, and external professionals to promote a culture of safety and inclusion
Deliver staff training and updates on safeguarding and inclusion policies
Proven experience in a safeguarding or pastoral role within an educational setting
Strong understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and safeguarding legislation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism
Experience working with students with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs is highly desirable
Relevant safeguarding training or qualifications preferred
