Career Teachers are seeking a dedicated and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Specialist School within the Barnet area.

The role of a SEN Teaching assistant can be the most rewarding job you have ever had.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work alongside the class teacher and other members of staff to maintain a meaningful, supporting and secure learning environment.
  • To deliver small group/1:1 intervention.
  • To aid staff in delivering educational programmes.
  • To be part of a classroom team, under the direction of the class teacher and or learning mentors.
  • To participate in team meetings, reporting on pupil performance.
  • To support pupils with their personal and behavioural development.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Have experience working with students with Autism.
  • The ability to demonstrate the value of education whilst keeping the pupils safe.
  • Team Teach Qualification or other positive handling experience – desired not essential.
  • An up to date Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the update service.
  • Have excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Have a calm, patient and positive approach to your work and the ability to communicate well on all levels.
