SEND Teaching assistant – Islington

We are working with an outstanding Special School for students aged 4-11 with mild to moderate, complex learning needs. We work closely with the other schools in our group and believe in ‘thinking differently’ and being as creative as possible in our teaching.

We are seeking to recruit an energetic Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. You will need to be passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and committed to providing them with the best educational support possible. You will be working in close partnership with our teachers, therapists, other teaching assistants and parents.

  • Working hours: 8.00 – 16.30, Monday to Friday, term-time only
  • Actual Salary: depending on experience
  • Contract: permanent or fixed term
  • Start date: flexible

Responsibilities

  • To assist teaching staff to plan and prepare lessons and resources within the school curriculum.
  • To make and prepare resources for teaching and therapy staff.
  • To reinforce targets throughout the school day.
  • To support students both within the class and during unstructured situations.
  • To support the teaching and therapy staff to maintain detailed case notes of all children seen.
  • To produce and maintain up-to-date pupils’ profile and behaviour plans.
  • To follow school procedures in reporting incidents and safeguarding concerns.
