Special Needs Teaching Assistant (Autism Support)

Location: Wetherby, North Leeds
Hours: Full time – 8:30am-3:30pm, term time only
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Until the end of the academic year, with a view to becoming permanent

Career Teachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive school in Wetherby, North Leeds, to recruit a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support autistic pupils on a full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs. The role is available immediately and will run for the remainder of the academic year, with the strong potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

The Role:

• Supporting autistic students on a 1:1 basis and/or in small groups
• Assisting pupils with learning, communication and emotional regulation
• Working closely with teachers and the SEN team to implement individual support plans
• Creating a safe, nurturing and structured environment
• Supporting both academic and social development

The Ideal Candidate:

• Has experience working with autistic children or young people (school or care setting)
• Is patient, understanding and resilient
• Has a genuine interest in SEN and inclusive education
• Can work confidently as part of a team
• Holds (or is willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS
