Career Teachers are currently seeking a resilient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time basis in a specialist SEN school in the S5 area of Sheffield.

This rewarding role involves supporting secondary-aged pupils who are academically capable but present challenging behaviours, requiring strong behaviour management and a calm, consistent approach.

📌 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their potential
  • Implement and follow behaviour management strategies consistently
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging learning activities
  • Help manage challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Support with social, emotional, and behavioural needs

✅ Skills & Requirements

  • Experience working with SEND pupils, particularly in a secondary setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills and resilience
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenges
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Team player with a proactive attitude
  • Commitment to supporting young people with additional needs
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education/SEND (desirable but not essential)
