Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

Secondary School – East London
Salary: TLR 2C or Leadership Scale (dependent on experience) – (£41,397-£62,762)
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, committed and passionate SENCO to lead and further develop SEND provision in an inclusive and aspirational secondary school in East London. This is a key strategic role, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on teaching, learning and outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

• Provide strategic leadership for SEND across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and post-16 where applicable)
• Ensure full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and relevant statutory guidance
• Lead on the identification, assessment, support and review of students with SEND
• Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to embed inclusive practice across the school
• Support and challenge subject leaders and teachers to deliver high-quality, adaptive teaching
• Line manage SEND staff and oversee targeted interventions
• Build strong partnerships with parents/carers and a wide range of external professionals
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of SEND provision and student outcomes

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have achieved, or be willing to work towards, the National Award for SEN Coordination
• Have strong experience of SEND provision in a secondary school setting
• Demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
• Be committed to inclusive education, high expectations and pupil achievement
• Have the ability to influence whole-school practice and contribute at leadership level
