Salary: MPS/UPS (Outer London £37,870 – £56,154) + TLR 1D (£14,000 – £17,216)

About the Role

We are seeking an ambitious and committed Head of Science to lead a thriving Science department at a forward-thinking secondary school in Waltham Forest from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for either:

• An experienced middle or senior leader looking to take the next step in their career, or
• An established Head of Science seeking a new challenge in a supportive and aspirational environment

The role is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, with the option of a permanent contract for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Science department
• Drive high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement across KS3-KS5
• Develop and deliver an inspiring, inclusive Science curriculum
• Monitor and support student progress, ensuring strong outcomes
• Lead and develop a team of dedicated teaching staff
• Manage departmental resources effectively

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Hold UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – essential
• Have a strong track record of teaching Science across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
• Demonstrate leadership experience or clear readiness to step into a leadership role
• Be passionate about raising attainment and inspiring young people
• Have excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
