Are you a passionate and dedicated Special Needs Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with additional learning needs?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Special Needs Teacher to join a highly supportive SEN school in Leeds from September on a full-time, permanent basis.
About the School
The school caters for children and young people aged 3-19 years with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. This particular role is based within a mixed KS2/KS3 provision, supporting pupils with complex learning needs and helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Conveniently located in an easily accessible area of Leeds, the school benefits from excellent transport links and offers free onsite parking for staff.
The Role
As a Special Needs Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
- Create a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment
- Support pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, parents and external agencies
- Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and target setting
- Promote pupils’ social, emotional and academic development
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
- Experience teaching children or young people with additional learning needs, including autism
- Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
- A patient, flexible and nurturing approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable
- Experience within an SEN school setting
- Knowledge of communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton or AAC
- Understanding of sensory and emotional regulation approaches
