SEN Teaching Assistant – Healthcare & Personal Care Background Welcome

Location: East London
Start Date: ASAP or September 2026
Daily Rate: £93-£110 PAYE

Are you a Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker, Care Assistant, Rehabilitation Assistant, Nursing Associate, or healthcare professional looking for a rewarding role outside of a clinical setting?

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a secondary-aged student with complex physical and learning needs. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in personal care, mobility support, and promoting independence, who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in a young person’s life.

About the Role

Working as part of a supportive SEN team, you will provide one-to-one support to a student throughout the school day, ensuring they can safely access learning opportunities while receiving the care and assistance they need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing personal care, including toileting and changing, with dignity and respect
  • Supporting safe transfers using a hoist
  • Assisting with mobility needs, including wheelchair support around the school site
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and participation in school activities
  • Supporting learning within the classroom and adapting activities where appropriate
  • Working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and the SEN team
  • Following individual care plans and safeguarding procedures at all times
  • Promoting the student’s wellbeing, comfort, and inclusion throughout the school day

  • SEN Support Worker

Requirements

  • Experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities, complex needs, medical needs, or personal care requirements
  • Confidence providing personal care in a professional and dignified manner
  • Hoist training or practical hoist experience (essential)
  • Experience supporting wheelchair users
  • A caring, patient, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
