Job Description:

Wakefield Special Educational Needs School is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide personalized support to a student with autism, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and structured environment.

Responsibilities:

– Work one-on-one with a student with autism, providing tailored support and encouragement.

– Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and adapted educational activities.

– Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor the student’s progress.

– Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

– Use strategies to manage and support the student’s behavior.

– Collaborate with the educational team, therapists, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to the student’s development.

Requirements:

– Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism.

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

– Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the educational and social development of children with additional needs.

– A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
