Job Type: 0.8 FTE (4 days a week)

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Functional Skills Lecturer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching functional skills (Math, English, ICT) to students with special educational needs, ensuring they are equipped with the essential skills needed for everyday life and future employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons in Functional Skills (Math, English, ICT) tailored to the individual needs of our SEN students.

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and teaching materials that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and support to help them achieve their goals.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to create a holistic learning experience.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.

  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters mutual respect and encourages student participation.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEN education.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience teaching Functional Skills to SEN students.

  • Strong knowledge of SEN and inclusive teaching practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special educational needs.

  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles and needs.

  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
