Career Teachers have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Learning support assistant (EAL) to join the staff team at a mainstream secondary School based in South Birmingham starting September 2024.

You will be responsible for providing learning support to pupils on a one-to-one and whole classroom basis whilst supporting teaching staff. You will be supporting pupils across key stage 3 (KS3) and key stage 4 (KS4) with English as an additional language.

You will be combining your knowledge of learning support and teaching techniques with your compassion and understanding of learning needs, to support pupils in their education career, and Teachers in their duties.

Requirements:

  • Hold a relevant level 3 qualification such as Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or Level 3 Certificate Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Experience supporting pupils with English as an additional language
  • Eligibility to work within the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS check on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
  • Have up-to-date safeguarding training; Career Teachers offer a FREE online Safeguarding training course
  • Able to provide a minimum of 2 x references to cover the last 2 years of employment history.
  • A calm and positive attitude
  • Have a passion for supporting and nurturing students.
  • Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to inspire and support learners in key stage 3 and 4.
  • Able to build strong relationships with both students and staff.
