We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Teaching Assistant to join a team on a permanent basis at a supportive and inclusive school in Hyde. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive, safe, and nurturing learning environment where students can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

Key Responsibilities of a Pastoral Teaching Assistant:

  • Student Support: Work closely with students to provide individual support, especially those facing personal, social, or emotional challenges. Encourage positive behaviour, self-confidence, and resilience.
  • Mentorship: Act as a mentor and role model for students, providing guidance, motivation, and support through one-on-one and small group interventions.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Work alongside teachers and other pastoral staff to identify students in need of support and contribute to personalised care plans.
  • Parental Engagement: Liaise with parents and caregivers, building strong relationships to support student’s well-being both at school and at home.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of interventions, student progress, and interactions with staff and parents.

Key Requirements of a Pastoral Teaching Assistant:

  • A passion for supporting young people and making a positive impact on their lives
  • Experience in a pastoral or teaching assistant role within an educational setting (desirable)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • An understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to upholding them
