Career Teachers are seeking experienced and qualified Science Technician’s to work within a cluster of secondary schools in and around the Birmingham area.

We are extremely busy with requests from our schools with the flexibility of working around your commitments as we offer part-time and full-time hours to suit as well as short-term and long-term assignments.

As a School Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the science department by preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment and materials, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for students. This position involves collaborating with teachers to enhance the practical science curriculum, managing inventory, and upholding health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for science experiments and demonstrations.
  • Maintaining and organising laboratory equipment and resources.
  • Assisting teachers and students during practical lessons, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring all materials are available for lessons.
  • Supporting the implementation of health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and contributing to the planning and development of the science curriculum.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting for equipment and experiments.

The role advertised is for temporary supply work.

About you:

  • A strong passion for science and education.
  • A degree in Science is desirable
  • Must have a minimum of 2 months experience as a science technician in a school environment
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory setting.
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude towards supporting teachers and students.
