SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Personal Care & Mobility Support)

Location: Newham, East London
Start Date: ASAP – July 2026
Rate: £13.50+ per hour via PAYE

We are looking for a compassionate and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to support a secondary-aged student with complex physical and learning needs. This is a rewarding role for someone who is confident providing personal care and mobility assistance throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing personal care, including changing and toileting
• Safely using a hoist to support transfers
• Assisting the student with mobility around the school, including pushing a wheelchair
• Supporting learning within the classroom and adapting activities where needed
• Working closely with the SEN team and following the student’s care plan
• Ensuring the student is safe, comfortable, and fully included in school life

Requirements:

• Experience supporting students with physical or medical needs (desired)
• Confidence in delivering personal care in a dignified and respectful way
• Training or experience using a hoist (essential)
• Ability to assist with wheelchair use around the school
• A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
