Secondary Cover Teacher – East London

Salary: £160+ per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, temporary/long-term supply

About the Role

We are working with vibrant secondary schools in Tower Hamlets who are seeking a qualified and adaptable Cover Teachers to join their team. Our client requires an enthusiastic educator to deliver pre-prepared lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, maintaining high standards of teaching and learning when regular teachers are absent.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lessons across various subjects and year groups
• Follow lesson plans and schemes of work provided by subject teachers
• Maintain effective classroom management and positive learning environment
• Implement school behaviour policies consistently and fairly
• Build rapport quickly with students from diverse backgrounds
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback where appropriate
• Complete registers and maintain accurate records
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and cover coordination team
• Support students with additional needs in line with school policies

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – mandatory
• Proven experience teaching at secondary level
• Strong classroom management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Flexibility to work across different subjects and year groups
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
• Professional, reliable, and punctual

Desirable

• Experience in diverse, multicultural school settings
• Knowledge of National Curriculum and exam specifications
• Subject specialism in any curriculum area
