Are you an experienced, passionate, and dedicated SENCO looking to make a genuine impact on the lives of young people with SEND? We are seeking a highly motivated and inspiring SENCO to lead and develop SEND provision across a forward‑thinking 11-16 secondary setting with a shared‑site sixth form.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified SENCO with the vision, knowledge and skills to deliver high‑quality support and ensure outstanding outcomes for students with diverse needs.

⭐ About the School

This inclusive and ambitious secondary school (11-16) is committed to excellence for all students, with approximately 200 Post‑16 learners on its shared-site sixth form. The school provides a supportive, harmonious environment where high‑quality teaching and aspirational outcomes for every learner are central to its ethos.

Ofsted (Jan 2023) recognised the school’s strong SEN practice, noting that:
“Pupils with SEND have access to the same curriculum as their peers… Leaders know their pupils well, work with external agencies effectively, and provide staff training to meet SEND needs.”

The proportion of SEND students is above national average, supported by a dedicated team and a well‑established Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP).

⭐ About the SEND & ARP Provision

The school hosts a specialist ARP for students with Autism Spectrum Conditions and/or social communication needs, offering:

  • A nurturing environment for students whose needs cannot be met solely in mainstream
  • Focus on independence, communication and preparation for adulthood
  • Access to Level 2 courses in KS4 and progression routes into Level 3 at KS5
  • Specialist provision for up to six students per year group (Year 7-11)

As SENCO, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless collaboration between the ARP, mainstream staff and external professionals.

⭐ The Role

As SENCO, you will:

  • Lead, manage and develop the SEND provision across the school
  • Ensure students with SEND receive the highest standard of teaching and support
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies
  • Oversee high‑quality interventions and personalised learning pathways
  • Train and support staff in effective SEND practice
  • Ensure rapid progress for learners in line with trust and statutory expectations
  • Promote an inclusive culture where every student is known, valued and supported

⭐ What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified SENCO (NASENCo essential)
  • A reflective practitioner with high expectations
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and effective practice
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff and students
  • Commitment to inclusive education and high aspirations for all learners
  • Passion for improving life chances for students with additional needs

You will share our belief that every student deserves an exceptional curriculum and outstanding teaching, regardless of their starting point.

⭐ Why Join Us?

  • A supportive SEND team dedicated to excellence
  • Forward‑thinking leadership and a culture of inclusive practice
  • Strong professional development and CPD opportunities
  • An opportunity to shape and elevate SEND provision across the school
  • A rewarding chance to make a significant difference to students’ futures
