Position: Long Term Special Needs Teacher
Location: Derby
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: £130 – £180 per day (depending on experience)

If you are an experienced teacher of SEND or a primary or secondary teacher looking to move across into Special Education I want to hear from you!

The school is a small secondary school which caters to students with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). You will be working with students aged 4-16 with additional learning needs such as Autism, ADHD, Complex Learning Needs, Downs Syndrome, Speech and Language difficulties and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an overseas teaching certificate recognized by Naric
  • A patient and understanding approach and manner
  • A flexible and amenable attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Experience of PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Rapid Prompting Method and other relevant augmentative and alternative communication approaches are advantageous but not essential

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver effective lessons which cater to the needs of individual EHCP plans
  • Be responsible for all assessments relating to class students
  • Be aware of, and remain responsible for all safeguarding of pupils within your care
  • Work collaboratively with both teaching and support staff to ensure best outcomes for students
  • Foster independence in students and promote wellbeing and good welfare
