Career Teachers have an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join the staff team at a mainstream secondary School based in Birmingham starting as soon as possible.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and energetic SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to join the teaching faculty at an Ofsted rated Good School in Birmingham. Providing you with the chance to work under the guidance of teaching staff, undertaking support programmes that enable access to learning for all pupils. You will be working within an inclusive and nurturing learning environment within a dedicated staff team who strive to be a beacon of support, whilst developing innovative learning schemes to increase the academic and vocational potential of every student.

You will be responsible for providing learning support on a 1:1 basis across all subjects, supporting students aged 11 to 18 years with a broad range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and cognition and learning difficulties.

You will be combining your knowledge of learning support and teaching techniques with your compassion and understanding of learning needs, to support pupils in their education career and Teachers in their duties.

Requirements:

  • Hold a relevant level 2 qualification as a minimum such as Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or Level 2 Certificate Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or Level 2 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Experience of supporting pupils identified with having SEND including SEMH.
  • Eligibility to work within the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS check on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
  • Have up-to-date safeguarding training; Career Teachers offer a FREE online Safeguarding training course
  • Able to provide a minimum of 2 x references to cover the last 2 years of employment history.
  • A calm and positive attitude
  • Have a passion for supporting and nurturing students.
  • Can effectively manage behaviour using positive strategies.
  • A strong desire to inspire and support young people.
  • Able to build strong relationships with both students and staff.
