SEN Teaching Assistant – Leeds

Salary: £80 – £90 per day (Depending on Experience)

ASAP until the end of the academic year, with potential for a permanent placement thereafter.

Career Teachers is collaborating with a warm and inclusive Specialist school in Leeds, who are actively searching for a dedicated and full-time SEN Teaching Assistant for a permanent role.

The school caters to a diverse range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including moderate and complex learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, Downs Syndrome, specific communication and learning needs, visual impairment, hearing impairment, Speech and Language challenges, complex medical conditions, and Multi-sensory Autism.

Your daily responsibilities will involve:

  • Cooperating with the class teacher in planning, monitoring, and delivering creative lessons
  • Serving as a positive role model and effectively managing behaviour
  • Ensuring a safe learning environment with a child-centred approach
  • Supporting pupils to achieve academic progress under the teacher’s guidance
  • Implementing group or 1:1 intervention for pupils facing emotional or social barriers to learning
  • Establishing constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, and setting high expectations

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A hard-working, energetic, and flexible nature
  • A calm, understanding, and consistent approach to working with children
  • Experience supporting individuals with personal care and those with physical-medical requirements
  • Experience working with wheelchair users, individuals with physical requirements, communication difficulties, Autism, and those requiring specialized personal care
  • We encourage experienced TAs/LSAs, support workers, healthcare assistants, nursing staff, and residential care providers to apply.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
  • Candidates with personal or professional experience supporting additional needs
  • Graduates in Nursing, Education, Childcare, Psychology, and Criminology
  • Candidates with a background in health, care, or support within the UK.
  • Teaching Assistants and Childcare Practitioners
