Special Needs Teaching Support

At Career Teachers we are working with a Specialist SEN School in North Leeds who require additional teaching assistants to join their welcoming team, the roles are beginning as soon as possible and will run for the rest of the academic year with the view of going onto a permanent contract. At present we have both full and part time vacancies available.

The school is in an easily accessible location in the North of Leeds, with good public transport links and onsite parking. They pride themselves in providing a high quality of care to students with varying special educational needs including; Complex Learning Needs, Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Speech and Language Difficulties, ADHD, Downs Syndrome, and physical needs. They are looking for people who are passionate about ensuring that vulnerable students with additional learning needs receive everything they need to succeed in gaining an enriched education.

To be successful for this role you will be:

  • Confident in your ability to manage challenging behaviours; able to diffuse situations and create a calm and positive learning environment. Training in positive behaviour management such as Team Teach training would be beneficial however opportunities to attend this course will be available.
  • Knowledgeable about SEND such as Autism.
  • Empathetic and caring.
  • Patient and willing to put in the time to build trusting and meaningful relationships with students.
  • Creative and adaptable, able to tailor the learning set by the class teacher to meet the needs of students.
  • Reliable; children with special educational needs rely on routine and consistency, therefore we are looking for someone who is reliable and willing to commit to this role.

This role would be ideal for anyone looking to begin a career in Special Education. Previous experience of working within an educational setting is beneficial, but an understanding or experience of SEND is essential. Whether this is from work-based experience or personal experience.
