Complex Needs Assistant – SEN School – Leeds

At Career Teachers we are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant to work 1:1 with a student who has complex learning needs. This is a full-time post, due to begin as soon as possible.

Role responsibilities:

• You will be supporting a child in KS1 who is currently working at an early years foundation stage level. Therefore, knowledge of the EYFS curriculum is beneficial.
• You will be helping the student in all aspects of the school day, academically and emotionally ensuring that they have access to the learning at hand using communication aids and resources at hand.
• The student is non-verbal, therefore previous experience of using communication tools such as Makaton and PECs would be advantageous however this training can be provided.
• Your main role will be to build trust with the student and create a calm, positive learning environment.

The school is in an easily accessible area of Leeds, with on site parking as well as good public transport links. They are extremely committed to their students and making sure that every child receives opportunities to an enriched education, therefore we are looking for someone who shares their dedication and is passionate about making a difference.

Role specifics:

• Working 1:1 with a student who has complex learning needs.
• This is a full time role. Monday to Friday (term time only)
• Pay is between £80 and £90 per day.
• You will be required to process an enhanced DBS check for this role, if you don’t already hold a valid one.

All quoted rates are inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay.
