🗓 Start Date: 1 September 2026
💷 Salary: Main Pay Scale or Upper Pay Scale + TLR1a (£10,173)
📘 Contract: Full Time, Permanent

We are working in partnership with a high‑performing secondary school in Hackney to recruit an experienced and ambitious Subject Leader of Geography for a permanent appointment starting September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Geography specialist-either an experienced subject leader or a teacher ready to step into leadership-to take responsibility for a successful and well‑established department within a supportive and forward‑thinking school.

The Geography Department

The department has a proven track record of strong outcomes:

  • KS4 (August 2025): 25% of students achieved grades 9-7
  • KS5:
    • 50% of students achieved A-A*
    • 100% achieved grades A-C*

You will be joining a school with a collaborative team of subject leaders, where middle leadership is well supported and highly valued.

The Role

  • Lead, develop and line‑manage the Geography department
  • Teach Geography across KS3, KS4 and KS5 (KS5 teaching is essential)
  • Drive curriculum development and maintain high standards of teaching and learning
  • Use data to monitor progress and secure strong student outcomes
  • Contribute to the wider leadership culture of the school

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Can teach Geography confidently up to KS5
  • Has experience as a Subject Leader or clear readiness for middle leadership
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge
  • Has high expectations for achievement, behaviour and inclusion

Why Apply?

  • Permanent leadership role with TLR1a (£10,173)
  • Join a high‑performing and respected Geography department
  • Supportive senior leadership and strong subject‑leader network
  • Opportunity to make a long‑term impact in a diverse Hackney school

If you are a Geography teacher ready for subject leadership or an experienced middle leader seeking your next permanent role from September 2026, we would love to hear from you.
