Teaching Assistant

A popular primary school in Kingston, South West London, are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to work with children who have Special Education Needs providing 1:1 support and small group support.

As part of your role, you will be working alongside the class teacher and Assistant Head to support learning.

Some Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities whilst learning indoors and outdoors.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, daily medication and welfare matters.
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs.
  • Create and maintain a creative, purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work.
  • Assist with the planning of learning activities.
  • Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.
  • Support the use of computing in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.
  • Be aware of, and support, difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
