Learning Support Assistant to start ASAP in Havering.

Are you interested in a rewarding role where no two days are the same?

We are looking for learning support assistants who would be keen to work with SEMH pupils.

As a small school for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, the school provide a broad and balanced curriculum, alongside bespoke support for their pupils’ mental health and wellbeing and help for pupils to understand themselves and their emotions.

SEMH needs can arise from a combination of life experiences, genetic factors, family dynamics, and environmental influences. Examples include trauma, loss, attachment issues, or neurodiverse conditions such as ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, or anxiety disorders.

Children with SEMH needs may display a variety of behaviours, including:
Withdrawal or isolation
Aggression or disruptive behaviour
Mood swings and emotional outbursts
Difficulty engaging in school or social activities
Signs of anxiety, self-harm, or eating disorders

Effective SEMH support involves understanding the underlying needs behind behaviours and providing personalised strategies. This can include emotional literacy programs, counselling, social skills development, and creating safe, supportive learning environments. Early identification and intervention are crucial to help children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
