SEND TEACHER
Position: SEND Teacher within PMLD School
Location: Newham, Redbridge & Waltham Forest
Contract Type: Full Time, Long Term
Start Date: ASAP / January 2025
Salary: Scale Point Rate £700 – £1,200 / week
Are you a kind-hearted individual with the patience and creativity to be a successful Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teacher?
Do you have an interest in working with students with SEND?
We are working with a number of OFSTED-rated ‘Outstanding’ Special Needs Schools for children aged 3 to 19 years in the Boroughs of Newham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest, for both immediate and January start dates.
Within our Schools, you will work with four broad categories of need: Communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, and sensory and/or physical needs.
Education and training in Special Needs is essential. The schools are well-resourced, with excellent support in place for both staff and students, as well as outstanding CPD opportunities.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an Overseas Teaching Certificate recognised by Naric
* Experience of working with students with SEND within a mainstream or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) setting
* A patient and understanding approach
* A flexible approach
* Excellent communication skills
* Existing DBS check on the update service
* Experience of PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Rapid Prompting Method and other relevant augmentative and alternative communication approaches are advantageous but not essential.
Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver effective lessons which cater to the needs of individual EHCP plans
* Be responsible for all assessments relating to class students
* Be aware of, and remain responsible for all safeguarding of pupils within your care
* Work collaboratively with both teaching and support staff to ensure best outcomes for students
* Foster independence in students and promote well-being and good welfare
