Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only (Monday-Friday, 8:30-15:30)
Duration: Until the end of the academic year, with the view to go onto a permanent contract thereafter

About the Role

Career Teachers are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming special needs school in Leeds. Starting in January 2026, you will play a vital role in supporting students of varied ages with a range of special educational needs, including autism and ADHD.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored learning plans and classroom activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
  • Support students’ emotional, social, and educational development throughout the school day.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience supporting vulnerable young people (in education, care, or support settings).
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people with special needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
