Career Teachers is working in partnership with a fantastic specialist school to recruit dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistants for full-time, long-term positions starting in September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly supportive educational setting that caters for students aged 3 to 19 years with a wide range of additional learning needs. Successful candidates will initially be employed through Career Teachers, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract directly with the school following a successful placement.

The Role

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Assisting students with communication and social development
  • Supporting learning activities tailored to individual needs
  • Promoting independence and confidence
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies where required
  • Supporting personal care needs when necessary
  • Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment

Essential Requirements:

✅ Experience supporting children or young people with additional learning needs

✅ A positive, patient, and resilient approach

✅ Excellent communication and teamwork skills

✅ A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

✅ Ability to build strong, professional relationships with students and staff

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs
  • Moderate or Severe Learning Difficulties
  • Complex Needs
  • Physical Disabilities
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
