Career Teachers are delighted to be recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Doncaster from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated education professional seeking a long-term role with the strong possibility of securing a permanent position.

This role would be particularly well suited to an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to broaden their classroom experience or a qualified HLTA seeking a new challenge within a nurturing primary setting.

The Role

As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Working closely with teachers and senior leaders, you will deliver high-quality interventions, provide classroom cover when required, and help ensure all pupils can achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering planned learning activities to individuals, small groups, and whole classes.
  • Leading lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Providing targeted intervention support to raise attainment and progress.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to create an engaging learning environment.
  • Assisting with assessment and monitoring pupil progress.

The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • HLTA status, an equivalent recognised qualification, or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This is an essential requirement.
  • Experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
  • A flexible, proactive, and positive approach to education.
