About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking secondary school in East London, is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Learning Resource Centre Manager to lead and develop its library provision.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about literacy and education to play a central role in supporting teaching and learning. The Learning Resource Centre sits at the heart of the school, promoting a reading culture, independent study, and student achievement.

You will have the opportunity to shape a vibrant and innovative learning environment, supporting both curriculum and enrichment activities while driving whole-school literacy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop an engaging, welcoming Learning Resource Centre
  • Promote a strong culture of reading and independent learning across the school
  • Deliver literacy initiatives, including reading intervention programmes
  • Organise and lead extracurricular clubs and activities focused on reading and study
  • Support students and staff with research resources and learning materials
  • Monitor and report on reading progress and literacy outcomes
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance curriculum delivery
  • Manage the library budget, resources, and digital platforms
  • Develop competitions, displays, and events to celebrate reading success

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for reading and literacy
  • Can inspire young people to develop lifelong reading habits
  • Has excellent organisational, communication and time management skills
  • Is confident working both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Has experience working with young people (school experience desirable)
  • Is proactive, innovative, and solutions-focused
  • Is confident using IT systems, including MS Office
  • Demonstrates a flexible, positive “can-do” attitude

Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) with strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Experience working with young people (essential)
  • School-based experience (preferred)
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
