Personal Assistant to the Headteacher (Temporary)

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
(Flexibility is required as occasional later finishes may be needed to support Governor meetings and school events.)

An Exciting Opportunity to Support School Leadership

Career Teachers are seeking an exceptional and highly organised Personal Assistant to the Headteacher to join a school on a temporary basis from September. This is a fast-paced and rewarding role at the heart of the school, providing professional, confidential, and proactive support to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will be a skilled administrator with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while always maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to the Headteacher.
  • Manage the Headteacher’s diary, appointments, and correspondence.
  • Act as the first point of contact for internal and external enquiries on behalf of the Headteacher.
  • Prepare agendas, reports, presentations, and meeting documentation.
  • Organise and minute meetings, including Senior Leadership Team and Governor meetings.
  • Coordinate school events, visits, and key stakeholder meetings.
  • Draft letters, communications, and reports to a high professional standard.
  • Maintain accurate records and filing systems.
  • Support the governance function, including preparing papers and distributing meeting documentation.
  • Liaise with staff, parents, governors, external agencies, and visitors.
  • Ensure the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion are maintained.
  • Undertake additional administrative duties to support the effective running of the school.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience as a PA, Executive Assistant, or Senior Administrator.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of minute-taking and diary management.
  • A professional, approachable, and flexible attitude.
  • Experience working within a school or educational setting (desirable but not essential).
  • A commitment to supporting the school’s vision and values.
