Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)
Secondary School – London Borough of Redbridge
Salary: TLR 2C or Leadership Scale (dependent on experience) – (£41,397-£62,762)
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: September 2026
We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, committed and passionate SENCO to lead and further develop SEND provision in our inclusive and aspirational secondary school in Redbridge. This is a key strategic role, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on teaching, learning and outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Provide strategic leadership for SEND across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and post‑16 where applicable)
- Ensure full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and relevant statutory guidance
- Lead on the identification, assessment, support and review of students with SEND
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to embed inclusive practice across the school
- Support and challenge subject leaders and teachers to deliver high‑quality, adaptive teaching
- Line manage SEND staff and oversee targeted interventions
- Build strong partnerships with parents/carers and a wide range of external professionals
- Monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of SEND provision and outcomes
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have achieved, or be willing to work towards, the National Award for SEN Coordination
- Have strong experience of SEND provision in a secondary school setting
- Demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Be committed to inclusive education, high expectations and pupil achievement
- Have the ability to influence whole‑school practice and contribute at leadership level
