PMLD Teacher – SEN School

Location: East London

Career Teachers are currently seeking a passionate and experienced PMLD Teachers to join supportive and well-resourced SEN Schools from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated teacher with experience supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering a highly personalised curriculum that promotes communication, independence, sensory development, and life skills while ensuring every student reaches their full potential.

The Role

  • Teaching a class of secondary-aged students with PMLD and complex learning needs.
  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
  • Supporting students’ communication, sensory regulation, social development, and functional life skills.
  • Working collaboratively with therapists, teaching assistants, families, and external professionals.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Monitoring and assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to reviews and reports.
  • Encouraging independence and celebrating every achievement, no matter how small.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience teaching students with PMLD and complex needs.
  • Strong understanding of sensory learning approaches and alternative communication methods, including PECS, Makaton, AAC, or similar.
  • Experience working within a SEN, special school, or specialist resource provision.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to supporting young people with additional needs.
