Career Teachers are seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to start in January 2025!!

Location: South Derbyshire
Start Date: 6th January 2025
Duration: Until the end of the academic year, with potential continuation into the new academic year

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our lovely Primary School in South Derbyshire. This rewarding role involves supporting a child in Year 1 with Autism, ensuring they have the best possible educational experience.

With this role, you will be working Monday – Friday 08:30-12:30.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to a Year 1 child with Autism, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist with classroom activities, ensuring the child is engaged and able to participate fully.
  • Implement strategies to support the child’s learning and development, as directed by the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Facilitate sensory breaks outside the classroom to help the child manage their sensory needs.
  • Monitor and record the child’s progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the child in developing social skills and building positive relationships with peers.
  • Assist with any personal care needs, if required.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on the child’s progress and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Autism or other special educational needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff members.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs (desirable but not essential).
